About Ally Sherrick

Ally Sherrick was born in Epsom, Surrey, a town famous for the Derby horse race and Epsom salts. She grew up with a policeman father and an office-working mother, and she shared her childhood with a sister and a variety of pets, including a “bad tempered” cat and uncommunicative goldfish.

Her love for stories was cultivated early on through her mother’s readings of classics like Winnie-the-Pooh and her father’s original tales. Despite a difficult start with reading, she became an avid reader and writer after a school change.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Sherrick considered being an Egyptologist. She pursued her passion for writing through different jobs, including an au pair in Belgium, an editor, and a public relations and marketing professional. She seriously began writing her own stories in 2009 after earning a master’s degree in Writing for Children.

She now resides in Surrey with her husband and enjoys the company of local wildlife. Her writing allows her to “live at anytime and anywhere in the world,” exploring different historical periods and places, including 1605 England during the Gunpowder Plot, 1940s Suffolk, King Henry VIII’s court in 1520, and Roman London in 120 CE.
